If this past week wasn’t all you’d hoped it to be (same), the great news is, we have a chance to do better starting right now. Today in Scrolls, we’re sharing an easy pesto you can use on anything, a new to us series that is wildly addicting, four books perfect for gifting (and a chance to win one!), incredible motivators to find our why, and the most fabulous finds of the week!
This is the easiest pesto, and you can sub out the greens or the nuts depending on what you’re in the mood for. I whipped this up quickly this week when we didn’t really have a plan for dinner, nor enough broccoli to make a proper side. Instead, we used the pesto on fresh, piping hot sourdough bread, sprinkled red pepper flakes and drizzled extra EVOO on top. It was scrumptious!
- 2 cups broccoli
- 1/2 cup EVOO
- 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds (bonus points for lightly toasting before blending)
- juice of 1 lemon
- 1 T. garlic
- season with salt, garlic powder, onion powder & red pepper flakes
This show has monopolized our television time. I refuse to watch anything else until we have binged all of the seasons. Which, we may have to reneg on since you may want a new Watch It suggestion next week 😆. Billions has been my favorite series in a very, very long time. It may have something to do with Damian Lewis and how much I loved him on Homeland. The plot is intense, the acting is terrific, and you very much root for the “bad guy”. You don’t have to have Showtime – it’s streaming now on Amazon Prime!
The book I read this week was not worthy of your time, sadly. But I didn’t want to leave you hanging, especially right around Easter. My favorite thing in the world to gift to others is a beautiful book. When I went to grab the links on amazon, every one of them was in our order history more than a handful of times. Jesus Calling was at 12 re-orders. Even if you don’t consider yourself particularly religious, the message of hope, love, and joy carries through. I have sent it to virtually everyone I love. Speaking of, The 5 Love Languages is something I reference fairly often around here. Most recently with this video demonstrating Jon’s tendency for Acts of Service. They even have a Love Languages for Children. I have it as a gift for your partner, but really, it’s a fantastic gift for yourself, discovering a new method to meet someone at their level, and show up for them in the best possible way to speak their language.
I Am is a book that Grey’s Godmama gifted him nearly five years ago. The pages are almost unbound at this point thanks to how many times we’ve read it through the years. Every child (and parent) would be better off for having this in their lives. And lastly, The Parents Tao Te Ching I have mailed to 8 mom friends. 8. It is exceptional. Bite-sized snippets that help to ground you, tap into new sources of patience, love, and JOY.
I'd love to send two of these to friends of the Pack. Let me know in the comments which one you want to read for a chance to find it in your mailbox!
Listen to it.
Podcasts are funny because you get into a rotation of a few you subscribe to and it doesn’t leave much time for exploration. So, in an effort to support other creators and learn something new, I am stepping outside my comfort zone and researching new to me hosts! So far I am loving Emily Ley; her voice is soothing yet vibrant, and I really enjoy the tips she shares to automate and simplify!
The first quote in the slideshow actually hit a big pain point for me this week. I remember seeing my mom over the summer and it was hotter than a billy goat with a blow torch, and I had jeans on. She said, “why don’t you change into shorts – it’s so humid, and you’re melting”. I told her I hated myself in shorts because all I could see was my cellulite. Almost a year later and I can still see her look of sadness, disappointment, hurt even. How many years did I waste taking time away from fun things we were doing, declining pool party invitations from friends, missing joyful moments. For what?! No one is looking at your jiggle. In any event, I’m wearing shorts now. I’m not sure I could last in Texas heat without them. I had this aha moment over the winter while I was doing a Team Body Project workout – every body is beautiful, and wasting time thinking otherwise is about as ridiculous as me quoting a billy goat with a blow torch 😆🐐.
Speaking of – have you heard of a Toe Dip Trip? It’s the newest travel trend for 2021.
We’ve been playing this with Grey all week. Board games are such a wonderful way to make an ordinary weeknight feel special 🥰.

Have you seen this on Netflix? Should we watch??
Why we gain weight and what to do about it, according to a Syracuse grad.
Love them or not, can you imagine 20 seasons of your life being on television?! Vogue asked some great questions as it comes to a close.
I use this every other shower before I put on my self tanner and it goes on so much more smooth.
How unique is this outdoor accent table?! Would be a great addition to any deck decor as we start thinking spring.
Since going full-blown vegan (I’ve been vegetarian most of my life, but cut out all dairy for good last summer), I have been sick less, have way less inflammation, and feel better all-around. However, I am mindful that I’m missing out on key nutrients. Here are 7 to watch if you’re veg too.
This interview was a great read, but the inspo and the images are just the dreamiest 😍.
I’ve read a lot about micro-agressions this week. Eye-opening, disheartening, not allowable.
I cannot wait for this interview. What question do you hope Oprah asks them?
Have a SPECTACULAR week. We are in charge of the trajectory of each day, each hour, each moment in time. Let's make it a wonderful one!
