Springing forward feels so hopeful. More sunshine, the sweetest springtime flowers popping up, more opportunities to soak in the warmth on our skin and enjoy time spent outdoors. All of that goodness is just around the corner! And around this corner we’ve got a fantastic movie the whole family will enjoy, an abundance of new nuggets to take into the week ahead; gems that I hope will inspire and excite; on top of a new-to-me cocktail Jon suggested that I wasn’t expecting to enjoy! Come on over and Scroll with us!
I love any opportunity for a mini toast & a cheers, so when Jon told me this drink had two – I was excited to try something new!
This Mexican Tequila Sunrise is easy – and the presentation is so fun! Here’s what you need:
- Corona (drink a little bit down so you make room for what’s to follow)
- splash of OJ
- splash of grenadine
- shot of tequila
This recommendation comes with a warning. It is an astounding, impeccably written, gut-wrenching novel set in the 1930’s during the Dust Bowl in Texas. I know we are living through a lot right now, but reading this, I couldn’t help but think about what our grandparents and great-grandparents lived through. If we have water and food today, we have much to be thankful for. I’m issuing the warning ahead of time because the pain you feel as you turn the pages sinks deeper and deeper, it doesn’t let up. So if you’re not in a great place mentally this week, maybe hold off until you’re drinking from a cup half-full state of mind.
The intense juxtaposition in this book between despair and strength, hopelessness and triumph is unbelievable. Kristin Hannah has such a talent for character development, and she outdid herself with the characters in this book, and the women in particular. She had me until the end. 8.9/ 10 ⭐️
I much prefer a juicy series to sitting still for a whole movie, but this week was Jon’s choice and he was emphatic I would love Ford vs. Ferrari. He watched it on the plane on the way back from a work trip and couldn’t stop raving about how great it was. Never in my life would I think I would love a movie about racing. He knows me better than I do, and I’m quite sure you’re going to love it too. The acting is phenomenal (hello, Christian Bale & Matt Damon!), the human side of racing and the business aspect were so interesting to me, and the twists and turns kept you on your toes. I liked it so much I’d watch it again.
Listen to it.
If you’re not into the Harry & Meghan saga, it’s okay to keep scrolling. I get it. I, however, am captivated by the behind the veil aspect of it. The peek inside an institution that has been forever shrouded in secrecy. I didn’t get to watch the Oprah interview in its entirety (sadly, a 4am wakeup means I change bedtime for no one, not even O 😆), but the pieces I did see were shocking, saddening, and intense. Can we just for a minute talk about what a gift Oprah is?! I’ve never been Team Meghan or Team Kate…but I’ve always been Team Oprah 🤩💯.
In any event, if you watched and didn’t get enough, or if you missed it and want a fantastic recap; Comments by Celebs had my favorite Royals Expert, Elizabeth Holmes on their podcast for a deep dive into the interview that sent shockwaves across the Pond.
A few extras to tap through because I was lucky enough to run across so many gems this week. And for small wins: we laid 10 yards of mulch as a family, Grey has been showing new signs of independence and initiative which has been so exciting to watch as parents, and I found a million and two reasons to be thankful. What about your wins??
Can we keep this out long after Easter is over? Because I am head over tail for the Scandinavian design and joyful little bunny! And while we’re setting the table, I didn’t know they made paper plates so beautiful!
Millennial home buying trends (I totally agree with the three they highlighted). But the article said Baby Boomers couldn’t care less about these features, and that’s where I disagree. What do you think?
